Amy and Eric had a very clear vision of what they wanted for their Autumn wedding in the Hudson Valley. They researched thoroughly all the possiblities and they come up with a perfect plan. Everything worked beautifully on their wedding day, and each location used during their big day was carefully thought out.
Their wedding story began at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel which is such a convenient location to "get ready". The Bride, along with her bridesmaids, enjoyed the nicely appointed bridal suite, while the groom and his groomsmen were very close by on the same floor. This allowed us to capture both of them getting ready without any complications. Eric and his entourage left on a large party bus, and the same bus returned to whisk away the bride and her bridesmaids to the church.
For their ceremony, they chose Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church, a beautiful historic church with plenty of charm and light. As photographers, we love to work in places that offer plenty of natural light, as we are able to capture the ceremony in a very natural style. This church also offered a picturesqe backdrop for several photos after the ceremony.
The Bride really wanted to incorporate many fall elements in her photographs. So we stopped at a place with plenty of trees in the background and large enough area for group photos. Even though this year the foliage season was a bit late, we used leaves in many shots to create the look that the Amy envisioned.
We continued to enjoy the unusually warm weather and made a few more outdoor stops. First we stopped at the Poughkeepsie Train Station, to take some unique and romantic bridal shots. The recently restored Poughkeepsie Train Station, was built in the golden age of railroad, when traveling by train was still a grand affair. We captured Eric and Amy in the beautiful waiting room with large floor to ceiling windows, outside the main entrance with the beautiful brick and iron features of the station, and we were also responsible for lightening the day of many travelers who could not resist a smile or a few congratulatory words to the beautiful couple.
The wedding celebration continued at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie. We took advantage of the spectacular sunset over the Hudson River on the the Grandview's Marina. We took great use of the docks, and of course we could not leave out the Mid-Hudson Bridge. We went upstairs to The Grandview's ballroom before the start of the cocktail hour. Amy and Eric were blessed with a beautiful day, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy themselves without worrying about the dreaded time crunch. The day was planned perfectly and they were able to enjoy each moment. They continued celebrating with family and friends with wonderful music by Andrew of Enriquez Entertainment, and the wonderful service provided by the staff at The Grandview.
