Lots of planning and preparation go into a wedding. A year, sometimes more, of getting every detail just right. Often times couples lose sight of the fact that the most important details are them. The wedding which happens in just one day, is a celebration of love. Alexa and Chris understood this. We remember our first meeting with this couple and the love between them was very evident. They both chose the fall season in the beautiful Hudson Valley as a backdrop to their romantic wedding. They wanted their wedding to be romantic, easygoing and as convenient as possible. One of the reasons they chose to get married at the Diamond Mills Hotel in Saugerties, NY and have their ceremony and reception occur right on premises.
The bride and her bridal party got ready in the bridal suite with make-up and hair by Salon 52 Hair Studio. What made the day so effortless is the comfort of the surroundings and the convenience of everyone being at the hotel which made the getting ready photos easy to organize. In the meantime, the groom and his groomsmen got ready in a different room of course! We took many shots of the getting ready, and we also witnessed the exchange of notes and gifts between these two which was very touching. The bride and groom did not want to see each other before the ceremony, so we took turns with each of them so we could take as many shots in the daylight.
It was an unusually warm and beautiful day, but November in the northeast come with shorter days. The ceremony occurred during sunset which meant we put our photojournalistic skills to test with a fast-paced and fast-moving transition to the outdoors to grab whatever light was left. It was a bit of a rush to the outdoors right after the wedding ceremony, but it was worth it to get a glimpse of the Esopus waterfall and scenery. The remaining photos were taken indoor with full use of the stunning indoors at the Diamond Mills.
The reception was a wonderful celebration, with the happy couple and their guests enjoying the ambience, food and music. We captured so much of the fun in a photojournalistic fashion. The magic continued with several romantic shots of Alexa and Chis at moonlight. We wish them much joy and love for many years to come!
